A special writing workshop in Irish on the theme of dinnseanchas - place-lore and mythology - will take place at Ionad Pobal Eascarrach, Falcarragh, on Saturday, October 25, from 2pm to 5pm.
The workshop, which will be conducted through Irish, is intended for writers working in the Irish language. It will be led by Donegal writers Michelle Nic Pháidín and Eithne Ní Ghallchobhair, in collaboration with writer and publisher Micheál Ó Conghaile of Cló Iar-Chonnacht. The event is a collaboration with CÚIRT International Festival of Literature, with support from Ealaín na Gaeltachta.

Irish-language writers are invited to submit a short piece of their own writing – a poem or short prose work (fiction, flash fiction, or essay, up to five pages) inspired by any aspect of dinnseanchas – by Saturday, 20 October 2025, to moccic22@outlook.com (Word document format). There is no charSpaces in the workshop are limited to around eight participants.
A public reading, “Dinnseanchas,” will follow that evening at 8pm., featuring Michelle Nic Pháidín and Eithne Ní Ghallchobhair in conversation with Micheál Ó Conghaile. All are welcome to attend.
This workshop continues an ongoing creative project that explores dinnseanchas and its shared resonances between Gaeltacht Irish and Māori writers — drawing connections between myth, landscape, folklore, and colonial history through contemporary creative writing.
