Letterkenny set to shine at Christmas Lights Switch On this Sunday

The Letterkenny Christmas Lights Switch On returns this Sunday

Letterkenny will be lit up for Christmas this coming Sunday, November 23, to kick-off the festive season in town.

The popular annual family event will begin at 6pm with entertainment on stage at Market Centre. MC Keith Fletcher will be blasting out some beloved Christmas tunes. He will be joined this year by David Craig and Pinehill Studios. There will be dancing, singing and of course there will be a special appearance from Santa!

The President of Letterkenny Chamber, Jimmy Stafford said: “The excitement of Christmas Lights Switch On in Letterkenny is something to behold, we look forward to welcoming all of the families this Sunday for an evening of Christmas magic! Letterkenny Chamber is proud to light up Letterkenny for the festive season. It marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season so we encourage everyone to come along and to support local where possible when shopping this Christmas.”

“We don’t do this alone; the Christmas Lights and this event are supported by Donegal County Council and as always, we appreciate their help and the extra financial support from sponsors. This year we have been delighted with the generosity of our business community.”

The lights will be switched on by the winner of the Letterkenny Chamber Christmas Art Competition. The lucky student gets to push the button and to meet Santa and their artwork will be on a limited-edition wallet for the Christmas season.

This year the Christmas Lighting display and the Switch On event is sponsored by joint sponsors Kingsbridge Healthcare Group and TCS.

“We were delighted with the generosity and response from our business community this year and for the first time ever we have joint sponsors who are supporting us in our Christmas Lights fundraising.

“In addition we have received contributions from many other businesses including The Star at Polestar sponsored by Boyle Construction, the Christmas Tree sponsored by Fairstone Letterkenny, Kiltoy Roundabout sponsored by Watson Hire, Santa’s Sleigh sponsored by PGIM and the Station Roundabout lighting  sponsored by Optum.

“We are encouraging everyone to come along on the night, join in the fun and get your photo taken at our Christmas Photo Frame sponsored by Nomadic Foods.”
