A new intercultural heritage project exploring migration to and from Donegal will be officially launched at Donegal County Museum, Letterkenny, on Friday, January 30, at 2pm.
Titled Our Voices Together: Stories of Migration to and from Donegal, the project brings together personal stories and lived experiences that reflect the diverse migration journeys which have shaped communities across the county. The launch will be performed by Cllr Paul Canning, Chair of the PEACEPLUS Partnership and Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council.

The project is led by community engagement organisation Workhouse Union and focuses on capturing and celebrating oral histories linked to migration, both inward and outward, highlighting how these movements have influenced Donegal’s social, cultural and historical landscape. Through recorded testimonies and heritage material, the initiative aims to give voice to people from a wide range of backgrounds whose stories form part of the county’s shared history.
The launch event is open to invited guests, with attendees asked to RSVP to Donegal County Museum in advance. You can RSVP by contacting Donegal County Museum directly — either by emailing museum@donegalcoco.ie or by phoning 074-9124613. The project is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body, and is backed by Donegal County Council along with local development partners.
Our Voices Together: Stories of Migration to and from Donegal forms part of ongoing efforts to promote intercultural understanding and to recognise the role of migration in shaping modern Donegal, while preserving these stories for future generations.
