The Creeslough parade will take place at 12pm on Tuesday, March 17
Plans are well underway for this year’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations in Creeslough, with organisers unveiling details of the 2026 parade, which will take place at 12pm on Tuesday, March 17.
The parade will once again bring colour, music and community spirit to the streets, and this year participants are being encouraged to take inspiration from the county’s natural heritage.
The theme for 2026 is Celebrating Our Waters, paying tribute to the waterways that shape life across Donegal, from the streams of Muckish to its rivers, lakes and the wild Atlantic coastline.

Organisers say the theme reflects the deep connection between local communities and the sea, fishing traditions and the environment, while also highlighting the importance of protecting water and marine life for future generations.
Groups, schools, businesses and families are invited to take part by designing creative costumes and floats based around water. Participants are encouraged to dress as sea creatures such as seals, seabirds or salmon, or to portray waves, rivers, droplets and surfers. The parade committee hopes the theme will spark imagination while also promoting environmental awareness and pride in the county’s landscape.
"There will be a strong sustainability focus, with entrants asked to use repurposed or upcycled materials in their displays," event organisers said. "Judges will award prizes on the day for the best floats, including first, second and third place, as well as a special award for the greenest and most sustainable float. A prize will also be presented for the best decorated house or shop front, encouraging the wider community to take part in the festivities."
