A draw is taking place to raise funds for the upkeep of the defibrillator in Loughanure.

The draw organised by Brid Sweeney and Teresa Greene will take place on Easter Sunday, April 5. The device, referred to as an automated external defibrillator (AED), generates an electric shock, used in the event of a sudden cardiac arrest to restore the heart rhythm.

This vital piece of equipment is there for everyone in our community in times of emergency, and it is so important that we keep it fully operational at all times,” Organiser Brid Sweeney said. “Regular upkeep is essential. The batteries and pads need to be replaced and maintained to ensure the defibrillator is always ready when needed.

“In addition, the outdoor box that houses the defibrillator has become worn over the years due to weather exposure. We are hoping to upgrade to a new, secure outdoor defibrillator cabinet to better protect this life-saving equipment.

“Your support would mean so much and will go directly towards keeping this service available for our community. Every contribution, no matter how small, makes a real difference. Thank you for your kindness and continued support.”
