The first distilling company in Donegal for over 175 years, Sliabh Liag Distillers, will share its story with a global audience when it features in second season of hit Amazon Prime TV show, The Three Drinkers. The show will go live on Amazon Prime this week.
The Three Drinkers are drinks experts, writers, and broadcasters Helena Nicklin and Aidy Smith, joined by a diverse revolving roster of ‘third drinker’ guests. In Donegal, Helena and Aidy were joined by ‘third drinker’ Beth Brickenden. Beth is a wine consultant and alternative events specialist behind the renowned Drag & Wine Tasting. Also in Donegal for the filming was Beth’s friend, London cabaret queen, Vanity Von Glow.
The first series of The Three Drinkers was streamed on Amazon Prime in 172 countries and territories. In the USA, Amazon Prime has 148.6 million members. When it airs this week, The Three Drinkers will shine an international spotlight on one of Donegal’s and the Wild Atlantic Way’s finest distilleries.
The Co-founder of Sliabh Liag Distillers, James Doherty, said the team really enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to watching the show: “We were overjoyed to be asked to take part in The Three Drinkers and thrilled to have the opportunity to share our story on a global platform. Having Aidy, Helena, the guest presenters and the production crew here was a lot of fun, and everyone seemed impressed by the beauty of our surroundings and the quality of the produce they discovered here”
The Three Drinkers series follows Aidy, Helena and their ‘third drinker’ guest on the ultimate lifestyle journey through the island of Ireland, scoping out famous landmarks and characterful locals before heading off to key stops on their tour of distilleries, including Sliabh Liag Distillers.
The first series of The Three Drinkers focused on Scotch Whiskey, however the second series brought them to Ireland to explore all sorts of drinks beyond the delicious whiskey and the stories behind the distilleries.
“In this series, we wanted to uncover the unique stories behind each distillery with a gentle nod to what makes their product so different. In Donegal, we really enjoyed exploring the art of local foraging for gin with James and Moira of Sliabh Liag Distillers. It was great to learn from them and get a deeper understanding of the impact locally foraged ingredients have on what goes into the bottle,” Aidy Smith said.
Helena Nicklin said that the series also showcases the incredible food scene in the region: “We’ve loved bringing everything together here, from the food and drink to the people, places, culture and tourism of the whole island of Ireland. This series also dives deep into Ireland’s incredible food scene and showcases some traditional activities such as bog snorkelling, cheesemaking and Irish dancing. We’ve been blown away by the sheer quality of Irish produce too. It’s world class.”
The Three Drinkers in Ireland will be live on Amazon Prime this week in 130 countries and territories. For more information on Sliabh Liag Distillers, please to to www.sliabhliagdistillers.com
