Garda Crime Prevention Officer, Paul Wallace, will address a crime-prevention meeting tonight in Letterkenny.
Letterkenny Mayor, Sinn Féin Cllr. Gerry McMonagle, called the meeting in light of the recent increase in break-ins in the Sliabh Sneacht, Meadowbank and Long Lane areas of Letterkenny.
The meeting is scheduled for 7.30 pm, tonight, in the Cheshire Apartments in Letterkenny.
Mayor McMonagle said Sgt. Wallace will provide advice on how to keep homes secure, and asked that residents of the three areas recently targeted in burglaries make a special effort to attend.
“Despite the success of gardaí in recent weeks in recovering a large amount of stolen property and the arrests they made, burglaries are still happening at an alarming rate,” Mayor McMonagle said. “I would ask people to be very vigilant and to contact gardaí if they see any suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods.”
