The Bundoran Christmas Lights were officially turned on with a bang last Saturday after bad weather had delayed the installation of the lights for almost two weeks.
Special guest, Father Christmas, arrived in style on the Bundoran fire engine with sirens blaring and lights flashing, much to the amusement of the adults and children waiting for the switch on. The RNLI added to the proceedings with the lighting of flares and some surprise crackers that flared into the early evening sky. The beautiful tree outside the civic offices is decorated with Christmas Wishes from the children of Mrs. Monaghan’s class of St. Macartan’s National School.
Bundoran Christmas Lights Committee would like to thank the members and staff of Bundoran Town Council, Gerry and Adrian Sheerin and Frankie McKeirnan for the music on the night, Coillte, the local RNLI and Bundoran Fire Services and the staff and pupils of St. Macartan’s NS. A special shout out also for the hard work of Karl Clancy and Cormac McGurran. Chair of Bundoran Town Council, Cllr. Michael MacMahon, thanked everyone involved and the crowd for joining in the celebrations, urging people to shop local and have a safe and Happy Christmas.
