The Swilly Inn in Letterkenny shaved off the remnants of ‘Movember’ on Thursday on a fundraising night for Prostate Cancer Ireland.
The Ballyaine pub was a hive of activity as the people of Gortlee and the surrounding areas were treated to live music in the form of Beetroot, a rodeo bull, which was provided by Funky Monkey, and an outdoor marquee, with thanks to Raphoe Marquee Hire.
On the night the total raised for the worthy charity was upwards on €E2,000 and with monies still coming in that figure was close on E3,000 yesterday. Donations can still be made at the Swilly Inn, Ballyraine, or the adjacent Swilly Foodstores.
County footballer Rory Kavanagh was one of a host of people who went under the razor to shed off his beard along with some of the locals, while there were a number of waxings that were more akin to a public execution such were the grimaces of pain.
Joe Campbell, who manages both businesses, was convincingly dressed as a baby for the night, although there is yet to be a confirmed reading for the ‘Guess the Baby’s Weight?’ competition!
The staff at the Swilly Inn and Swilly Foodstores would like to thank everyone who helped out on the night, particularly Raphoe Marquee Hire, Funky Monkey, Beetroot and the waxer and Ally from Port Road Barbers.
During November each year, ‘Movember’ is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in Ireland and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer.
