THIS week sees the start of a number of charity events taking place thanks to a Letterkenny bar to help a young girl travel to receive treatment for Cerebral Palsy in Hungary.
Three-year-old Sarah McFeely suffers from a form of Cerebral Palsy and is due to travel to the Peto Institute in Hungary to have treatment. She is the daughter of Ray McFeely and Bronagh Colhoun from Letterkenny. The younger the child is the better the treatment, which costs €6,000, and Bronagh and Ray hope to take Sarah in June of this year. The fundraising initiative is called ‘Sarah’s Smile.’
On Friday night, the Swilly Inn in Ballyraine, Letterkenny, are hosting a ladies charity night in aid of Sarah’s Smile. Tickets are €5 and the night commences at 8pm with an Ann Summers Party followed by the ‘The Full Monty’ by local rugby players, followed by a striptease show and the night will end with a disco by the Klassy Karen. The evening will be hosted by the one and only Lucy Lashes and there will also be a raffle on the night.
Then, on Thursday, February 23, the Swilly Inn are running a five-a-side football event at Letterkenny Institute of Technology and there are 16 men’s teams and eight women’s teams arranged, again at €5 per person, with a presentation in The Swilly Inn afterwards, where there will also be a raffle.
On Saturday, March 10, the bar will run a cyclethon organised from 12 noon to 12 midnight with teams of four cycling for an hour at a time, 15 minutes per person. Anyone interested in entering a team please contact the Swilly Inn on 074-9125944 - the teams are €20 each and the team who has clocked the most miles in their hour will receive a prize on the night.
Everyone at the Swilly Inn would like to take this opportunity to wish Sarah all the best and thank all those who are helping to run these events and those who have sponsored raffle prizes - Letterkenny Century Cinemas, Tin Tai Restaurant, Wassons Garage, Paul McBrearty Plumbing, Laura Dolan Hair Design and The Pin Tavern.
