One of Letterkenny’s most popular characters, Paidin Dawson of Ard O’Donnell, has passed away. Aged 74 years, he died peacefully in Letterkenny General Hospital on Sunday morning after having been in failing health.
A retired nurse he worked throughout his career at St. Conal’s Hospital and was a regular figure on the town’s Main Street where a smile and a friendly exchange was always guaranteed.
He had when his health was with him enjoyed the local quiz scene and had also played golf.
His remains will be reposing at the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest at Mountain Top from 4.p.m. to 6.p.m. today, Tuesday. They’ll be removed to St. Eunan’s Cathedral this evening.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10.a.m. tomorrow, Wednesday, with burial afterwards in the family plot at Conwal cemetery.
The late Mr. Dawson was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Agnes, and by his brother, John.
He is survived by his sisters, Philomena (Dublin), and Mary (Letterkenny), and his brothers, Mark and Pascal (both England). Sympathy is extended to them and to his locally based cousins, relatives and friends.
