The death took place in St.Francis’s Hospice, Raheny, Dublin on Holy Thursday 5th April 2012, after a short illness, of Sylvia Briody, The Rock, Glenties.

The death took place in St.Francis’s Hospice, Raheny, Dublin on Holy Thursday 5th April 2012, after a short illness, of Sylvia Briody, The Rock, Glenties.

Her remains were brought to St. Connell’s Church, Glenties on Good Friday evening. Her son, Fr. Joseph Briody assisted by six priests concelebrated Requiem Mass on Easter Sunday. Bishop Philip Boyce was also in attendance. Family members did the Readings and brought the gifts to the Altar. Music was by the local choir. Burial took place in the New Graveyard. She is survived by her husband, Liam, sons, Martin, Fr. Joseph, Anthony and John, daughter, Mary, sister, Mercedes, other relatives and friends to whom sincere sympathy is extended. Sylvia, a native of Ballyshannon came to Glenties with her husband Liam, when he was appointed as Garda Sergeant in 1967.
