Glen Set to celebrate St Colmcille’s Scottish links

A unique programme of events linking Donegal with Gaelic Scotland will be held in Glencolmcille 1-4 June.

A unique programme of events linking Donegal with Gaelic Scotland will be held in Glencolmcille 1-4 June.

Featured will be Scottish Gaelic classes and Psalm-singing; traditional songs from both countries by Doiminic Mac Giolla Bhríde and Griogair Labhraidh; dance workshops with Joe McGuiggan; and a lecture on ‘The Sea-divided Gael’ by Aodán Mac Poilín of Iontaobhas Ultach.

There will be guided local walks including the Saint’s Turas and Canon McDyer’s famous Folk Village hand the event will be officially opened on Friday 1 June at 8.00 pm by Minister of State, Donncha Mag Fhionnlaoich, TD.

Glencolmcille is one of the locations featured on Colmcille’s international heritage trail St Columba’s Way/Slí Cholmcille and the organisers are grateful for support from this body again this year.
