Death of rally winner’s father

The father of one of the members of the winning crew in last weekend’s Donegal International Rally was laid to rest yesterday.

John Doherty of Derrisleagh, Glen, was laid to rest in Termon after his funeral yesterday afternoon.

Just over a week ago his son Neil was co-driver in the winning rally crew alongside driver Garry Jennings in their historic victory.

Neil dedicated his rally victory to his father who was ill in Letterkenny General Hospital.

Mr Doherty passed away at the weekend following a recent illness.

A large crowd turned attended his funeral at St. Columba’s Church.

He is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Frances, Eileen, Patricia and Maggie. sons Joseph, John, James and Neil, to whom deepest sympathy is extended. He is pre-deceased by his son Paul.
