Gold for Jason the new European Champion: Well done and congratulations to Jason Quigley who was crowned Senior European Boxing Champion in Minsk. Jason didn’t have an easy run to the final having to get past the two top seeds but he did it in style and all in the Finn Valley would like to wish him well.

Meenreagh Social Centre: A Bonfire Night Dance on Sunday the 23rd of June. The bonfire will be at 9.30pm and followed by dancing from 10.00pm to 1am. Music is by Country Highways and refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome.

B & S Tidy Towns Poster Competition Winners: B&S Tidy Towns would like to congratulate Michael Curran, Pete Byrne and Shauna Duddy all students from St. Marys N.S. who won prizes in the recent Poster Competition. Thanks also to B&S Credit Union who sponsored the prizes for the competition.

Cardio Ceilidh: Cardio Ceilidh continues in Kee’s hotel, Stranorlar every Wednesday evening at the new time of 8pm. The ceilidh is suitable for beginners and no dance experience is necessary. All welcome.

T.T. Celtic Supporters Club: Club merchandise will soon be available. A big thanks to McKelvey’s Bar, Ballybofey for their kind sponsorship. Tickets are now on sale for the TTCSC Annual Draw 2013 with €600 in prizes. 1st €300. 2nd €200. 3rd €100. Tickets are €2 or book of 3 for €5. Thanks to North West Forest Services for sponsorship of the 1st Prize. The draw will take place on the 21st of July and tickets are available from any club member. The TTCSC AGM will take place on Thursday the 20th of June 2013 at 8.00pm in Pat Bonner’s Corner Bar. Everyone welcome.

Donegal Chamber Music Society: Donegal Chamber Music Society in association with Glenveagh National Park presents “Serenades & Dances” with the Donegal Camerata String Quintet in the Drawing Room at Glenveagh Castle on Friday 14th June. The String Quintet will perform a colourful programme consisting of popular classical pieces. Tickets can be booked in advance only, tickets for the concert will be not on sale at the door. Abbey Well Prayer Service: A short community prayer service will take place at the site of the Holy Well Wood, Drumboe on Sunday the 23rd of June at 3pm. The holy well serviced Drumboe Abbey which was located in the adjoining field up until the 1640’s and was visited by many historical figures such as St. Eunan and Red Hugh O’Donnell. This site is of great historical significance and many locals and people from farther afield visit the well on a regular basis to the present day. Those wishing to attend the service are advised to wear comfortable footwear. All welcome.

Free Equality and Peace Building Seminar: For those interested in equality and/or peace building, the Community Workers Cooperative and Donegal Network will hold a seminar on Tuesday the 2nd of July in Letterkenny. The seminar aims to explore the links between peace building and equality. Niall Crowley will be the keynote speaker. Niall was chief executive officer of the Equality Authority in Ireland, from its establishment in 1999 until 2008. The seminar will also be addressed by Hilary McCollum, Project Manager of Donegal CWC’s Collective Action for Positive Peace project. The seminar will be followed by the first meeting of the Border Peace and Equality Forum, a cross-border network which aims to strengthen work on equality and peace-building on both sides of the border.

Aranderg C.C.E.: Please keep free the last weekend in June (27th -30th) as the Aranderg C.C.E. are hosting the County Fleadh in Castlederg. This promises to be a great weekend of music, song, dance and craic. All welcome. Watch this space for updates on events that will be taking place during the fleadh. Twin Towns Notes: Items for the Twin Towns Notes can be forwarded to before 5.30 pm each Friday or items may also be dropped into Blees Café Navenny Lane, Ballybofey before 9.30pm on Friday night for the following week’s issue.
