The death took place of Madeleine Rutherford on the 16th of February in the Barnes View Ward, St. Josephs where she was cared for over the past six years.
Madeleine, formerly of Woodlawn, Stranorlar had worked in the Labour exchange after finishing her education and then in Mc Ginty’s Drapery Shop, Ballybofey and finally in Mc Clay’s, Stranorlar all in a bookkeeping capacity. She had many varied interests and was involved in camogie, tennis, and golf. She also sang in the choir and appeared in many stage musicals and in the Butt Drama productions winning many awards in the process.
Requiem Mass was celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Stranorlar by Fr. Mc Ateer, assisted by Fr Chambers. Music and solos were by Kathy O’Hara. Interment took place in Stranorlar graveyard officiated by Fr. John Joe Duffy.
Madeleine is survived by her nieces, nephews, grand and great grand nieces and nephews locally and worldwide to whom deepest sympathy is extended. May she rest in peace.
