A special presentation function was held at the Sea View Hotel, Bunbeg in honour of Gerry Gallagher who recently retired as station officer with the Gaoth Dobhair Fire Brigade on Saturday last.
Gerry has worked twenty six years with the fire crew and was one of the first men to work on the 1987 crew. Local to the area, Gerry is well known, liked and respected throughout the area for the tireless work he carried out in the region. Gerry was central to many major incidents which took place in the area over the years. Testament to his popularity many locals and colleagues attended the event in the Sea View Hotel. He is pictured receiving a gift on behalf of his colleagues from Muiris Ó Gallchóir who will replace him as Station Officer.
