This is the inaugural meeting of the Art Group. It is a self-led, self-funded initiative set up by women who were part of the North Leitrim’s Multi-Cultural Women’s Art Group that ran sessions over the winter/spring 2012-1013 and held an exhibition of work created during these sessions in August at the Leitrim Sculpture Centre, Manorhamilton. The group members made friends and had fun and didn’t want the sessions to end, but also wanted to open them up to more budding artists and so decided to continue on with the art sessions and the chance to meet up for a chat and be creative. The initial group was facilitated by a local artist Liz Byrne, with grant funding supported by the European Union’s PEACE III Programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body and delivered by the County Leitrim PEACE III Partnership.
