Three outdoor enthusiasts from Stranorlar are showing some heart as they get ready to take on special walk at the foothills of Everest.
Penny O’Donnell, Norbert Batho and Kathleeen Foy are preparing to travel to Nepal in September to undertake the gruelling Everest “Base Camp walk”.
Their mission is part of a fund raising event for the Irish Heart Society.
As well as getting plenty of walking exercise, the trip have planned a series of fund raising events in conjunction with their adventure.
Penny explained they are looking forward to the opportunity and say it is all for a good cause.
“It is going to be a great experience and it is for a very good cause. In particular it is the Irish Heart Foundation stoke campaign were are raising the money for. It’s very worthy and I have had friends and family affected by such issues so we thought why not do it for them.”
They are currently carrying out long walks with heavy packs in preparation for the 51km walk in Nepal, which will take place over 12 days.
Among the fund raising events planned are a screening of The Goonies” in Lifford cinema on April 21, A Texas Hold’em night in Heeny’s U Drop Inn on June 1, a five -a-side tournament in the Finn valley Centre on June 7. orfollow them on mycharity.ie/penny-o-donnellsevent
