For information or for organ donor cards, contact the Irish Donor Network by email to donor@ika.ie, by free texting the word ‘Donor’ to 50050 or by making a lo-call to Donor House on 1890 543 639.

The Irish Kidney Association has also made it possible to carry an organ donor card in your smartphone. Launched last year, the card is available as an iPhone and Android app called “Organ Donor ECard”.

According to the web site, Journal.ie, there have been more than 1,000 downloads of the Android app. People who download the card are asked to keep the Organ Donor ECard symbol on the front page of their smartphone, because paramedics have been instructed to look for it.
