Two young lads who set up their own business making pens from native Irish woods are to realise a dream when they get a new workshop this Friday.
The new 7m x 4m workshop for Donegal Pens brothers Ronan and Conor McGarvey will be erected this Friday, with work commencing at 10am at Loughanure.
The workshop is being funded by the Expert Hardware group. The company is, which has 38 stores nationwide, is providing the boys with outright funding of €4,500 for the workshop and a new lathe.
Alan Grant, Director of Expert Hardware, offered to fund a new workshop for the boys when they heard that the brothers did not qualify for any funding because they are both under eighteen years of age.
Donegal Pens was set up by Ronan (14) and Conor (11) in late 2009 and they have produced hundreds of wooden pens and shipped many worldwide.
The steel constructed workshop is being supplied by Tonagh Engineering from Co. Derry. The new facility will provide the boys with more space and facilities to expand their pen-making business.
