Glenswilly principal retires

This Wednesday the principal of Glenswilly National School, Liam MacGabhann, will retire after having spent almost four decades as a teacher and principal. The well known and much respected native of Kinlough will be sorely missed by pupils, colleagues and those who have grown to know him over the years in the area.

This Wednesday the principal of Glenswilly National School, Liam MacGabhann, will retire after having spent almost four decades as a teacher and principal. The well known and much respected native of Kinlough will be sorely missed by pupils, colleagues and those who have grown to know him over the years in the area.

Liam graduated from his Saint Patrick’s teaching training college in Drumcondra and secured his first position as a teacher at the Belgrove National School in Clontarf. Liam’s career path led him to the seaside community of Rathmullan in 1979 where he spent four years before beginning in Glenswilly National School where he has spent almost three decades.
