The Late May Mullin: The death took place on May 28th of Mrs May Mullin, 273 Ardmacarron, Ballybofey in her 92nd year, after a short illness at her son Paddy’s residence. She was predeceased by her husband Frank in 1975 and daughter Gerardine in 1966.
Requiem Mass was celebrated in St Mary’s Church, Stranorlar by Fr. Kieran Mc Ateer P.P. Stranorlar. Offertory gifts were presented to the altar and readings were given by her granddaughters, Amy and Debbie. Prayers of the Faithful were read by her grandson Matthew. Music and solos were provided by Frankie Quinn.
May is survived by her son Paddy, daughter-in-law Edith, grandchildren Amy, Debbie, Matthew and her sister, Mrs Nan Farrelly. She is also mourned by her brother-in-law, Jack, nieces and nephews to whom deepest sympathy is extended.
Month’s Mind Mass will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Stranorlar on Friday, June 29th at 7.30pm.
Open Air Mass: Well done to all who were involved in the Open Air Mass to mark the start of the Eucharistic Congress. MacCumhaill Park was packed to capacity on what turned out to be a glorious day as people came from far and near to be part of this community occasion. It was a wonderful event and enjoyed by all.
Student Grant Info Seminar: Letterkenny Youth Information Centre, which is managed by the Donegal Youth Service, will hold a Student Grants Information seminar for parents and young people in Planet Youth on Wednesday, June 27th.
The seminar will have information and guidance on how to apply for third level grant assistance for young people and parents of those who are currently doing their Leaving Certificate, or those who are entering the third level system as mature students.
The seminar gets underway at 7pm.
Mass and Anointing of the Sick: Mass and Anointing of the sick and housebound will take place at 7pm on Friday, June 15th in St Mary’s Church, Stranorlar. You can help by providing transport and seeing that the sick can take part in this special Mass. Refreshments will be served in the parish centre afterwards.
H.S.E. Retired Group: An outing to the cabaret in the Central Hotel, Donegal Town is planned for Thursday, June 21st. To book contact Maura on 9723103 before June 14th.
BASICC upcoming events: On Saturday, June 16th, the Balor DCA Youth Drama Showcase take place. Admission is €5/€3.
Donations needed: Urgent donations of clothes, books and small pieces of furniture are required for the Donegal Charity Shop, located on Main Street, Ballybofey.
All proceeds raised go towards supporting local charities. The shop will also accept old and damaged clothes for recycling. For more information contact Margaret on 087 3589966.
Evening Sale: Donegal Pet Rescue Charity Shop presents an Evening Sale in Jackson’s Hotel, Ballybofey on Thursday, June 14th.
The event runs from 6-9pm and you can chose from handbags, shoes, household, bric-a-brac, lamps and pictues etc.
Coming up at the Balor: A Youth Drama Showcase takes place on Saturday, June 16th at 12 noon and 3pm. Admission is €5/€3
The tradition of youth theatre has always been strong in the Finn Valley thanks in part to the Balor DCA’s Youth Drama Programme which is currently in its ninth year.
Children from 5-16 years enjoy weekly drama classes with trained facilitators which instill confidence and improves social skills as well as teaching basic stagecraft.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream on Sunday: On Sunday, June 17th, there is an opportunity to experience one of Shakespeare’s most accessible comedies re-imagined in 1950’s nuclear fallout fashion.
Dublin based Drunk Tank Productions – featuring local actor Richard Durning among the cast – bring their fascinating take on Shakespeare’s classic comedy to the Balor en route to performing at The Edinburgh Festival.
