James O’Donoghue, ex-Kerry on the The Football Pod: “Kerry expected Jim McGuinness to set up to try to stop David Clifford. But under the new rules you almost have to rob one side to sort the other.  “They overloaded one David’s flank but on the other side, Dylan Geaney was on the other side looking for the switch, waving his hands, as no one was on him.  “Paudie at the top of the D, Mogan had him one time, Roarty the next and even Moore after that. Surely Donegal had a meeting where they would have said this is one of the best players in the country, let’s tag him.  “That system just did not suit the game as Kerry were just too cute getting in between the lines”placeholder image

Donegal's hugely anticipated All-Ireland final clash with Kerry didn't materialise into the contest we'd all hoped for but there was no doubting that the Kingdom deserved their emphatic ten-point win over Jim McGuinness' men

Ciaran Whelan, ex-Dublin and RTÉ GAA Podcast: “Kerry played Donegal on their terms and really blew their system out of the water. They sort of exposed that there was no Donegal Plan B. “When they did fall behind, they lacked a bit of imagination on changing it up.  How Paudie Clifford was allowed to control the entire game will fill a lot of inches and air time in Donegal over the next few days.  “Because they handed him the keys to unlock the entire match. Kerry just were a step ahead of Donegal and were worthy winners.  “You can look at the ifs and the buts often, coming away from All-Ireland finals. But Sunday was just clinical from a Kerry perspective”.
