Where are they now? Donegal’s heroes that took home the 2012 All-Ireland

Donegal won the All-Ireland SFC for the second time in their history in 2012, when they defeated Mayo 2-11 to 0-13 in the final at Croke Park under Jim McGuinness

The St Michael’s forward had a happy knack of scoring Croke Park goals, having first burst onto the scene in 2002, under Brian McEniff. The Creeslough native would end up playing for Donegal 163 times, until his retirement in 2017. A feature in the team for large spells, Toye fought back from a serious Achilles injury in 2009 to get back into the fold in 2011 against Kildare, with a goal to play a part in 2012. After missing 2013 due to trifacial neuralgia - a disorder that affects the trigeminal nerve, the nerve responsible for sensation in the face - played a vital part in 2014 as Donegal reclaimed Ulster and reached the All-Ireland final again.
