The event proved to be a tremendous success, with over 100 boys and girls from local primary schools participating in a wonderful celebration of Irish culture.
The standard of performances throughout the day was exceptionally high, and the audience in attendance thoroughly enjoyed the occasion.
Micheál Ó Giobúin, Cathaoirleach of Scór na mBunscoileanna Leitir Ceanainn, expressed his sincere thanks to Scoil Cholmcille Principal, Pauric Cannon and his staff for hosting the event and for the warm welcome extended to all schools and participants. He also acknowledged the wonderful use of the Irish language throughout by all participating schools, which added greatly to the celebrations of Seachtain na Gaeilge.
The aim of Scór na mBunscoileanna is to preserve and celebrate our culture among the kids in our local primary schools. The young children are given the opportunity to perform on stage and to take part in and enjoy our language, music, song, dance and drama while also helping to build their self-confidence. All participants were presented with certificates in recognition of their involvement.
The Scór na mBunscoileanna Trophy for the best overall school was awarded to Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin, while the Pat Nicholl Memorial Cup for the overall best act was presented to Scoil Cholmcille’s Lena Szydlelko for her outstanding recitation – a very popular winner on the day.
Adjudicators for the event were Fergus Mac Aoidh, Paddy Tunney and Marian Cullen.
Ba mhaith le choiste Scór na mBunscoileanna buíochas ó croí a ghabháil le gach scoil, le gach ball foirne, le gach múinteoirí, le gach dalta agus le gach tuismitheoir a chuidigh chun an ócáid a dhéanamh chomh cuimhneacháin agus chomh taitneanhach sin mar cheiliúradh ar ár gcultúr Gaelach.
The organisers would like to thank all schools, staff, teachers, pupils and parents who helped make the event such a memorable and enjoyable celebration of our culture.
