Brian McIver got off to winning ways after an intense battle with students St Mary’s of Belfast in the opening round of the Dr McKenna Cup at Fr Tierney Park, Ballyshannon.

The home side just about deserved their hard earned win on the basis of a stronger second half display but they were made to fight all the way against a spirited St Mary’s side, with Colm McFadden kicking four points.
