A fine opening win over Down, 3-15 to 0-7, at Pairc Esler was followed by victory over Cork in Ballyshannon and Gallagher’s team made it three from three with a 1-14 to 1-12 defeat of Mayo in Ballybofey, with Leo McLoone finding the net for the home team. Unusually, the six points were enough for a semi-final place, where Dublin were winners on a 1-20 to 0-13 scoreline at Croke Park. (11)
