Donegal's first Ulster title of 1972 - like a Phoenix from the Flame

Peter Campbell speaks to team manager Brian McEniff to mark Donegal's great breakthrough in winning their first Ulster SFC 50 years ago this weekend and details on a player-by-player basis those who helped make the achievement possible

Michael Doherty was a son of the famous Joe Doherty, who was the man in charge of MacCumhaill Park in the 1970s. Michael was brought into the Donegal squad along with a number of other MacCumhaill's men like Mickey McMenamin and Tommy McMenamin after their great club championship success in 1971.

Michael had a very good championship that year as a forward. He was a very talented player with a good eye for a score. Had a short Donegal career. Michael lives in Letterkenny.
