Donegal's first Ulster title of 1972 - like a Phoenix from the Flame

Peter Campbell speaks to team manager Brian McEniff to mark Donegal's great breakthrough in winning their first Ulster SFC 50 years ago this weekend and details on a player-by-player basis those who helped make the achievement possible

Peter Barry (Bundoran)
I do believe Peter Barry was on the subs bench when St Joseph's played Dunmore McHales in the second game in the All-Ireland club final of 1968 in Tuam. I had him in the county minor team in 1970. And he came straight into the senior team that year and I remember him playing in a league game against Westmeath in Mullingar along with Josie Gallagher and John Boyle of Ardara.

Peter had a short run at county level. He went to England for a short time. He was a midfielder and one of a family of big men, he was just over 6f. But he had a pair of long arms, like a monkey. He had a good fetch and a good spring and he had two good feet. He is an uncle of former Mayo midfielder Tom Parsons and I could see a lot of Peter in Parsons.
Peter spent some time in the US and is now living in Sheffield in England.
