Donegal's first Ulster title of 1972 - like a Phoenix from the Flame

Peter Campbell speaks to team manager Brian McEniff to mark Donegal's great breakthrough in winning their first Ulster SFC 50 years ago this weekend and details on a player-by-player basis those who helped make the achievement possible

Like Michael Doherty and Mickey McMenamin, I brought Tommy McMenamin into the squad after the big win for MacCumhaill's in the 1971 Donegal senior championship. He was a very strong and accomplished corner-back. What he lacked in pace, he made up for with understanding.

That MacCumhaill's team were very good. McMenamin was based in Dublin and was also part of the McCready training group. A very, very fine lad. He is still based in Dublin and I meet him from time to time at games.
