Catching the eye: Players to watch in this year’s Football Championships

With county players not playing for spells of the All-County Football League, there were a number of stand-out players who have yet to make their senior inter-county bow that will be looking to take their good form into the football championships in the coming weeks

Kane Barrett (Milford)
When the teams were read out ahead of the Division 2 promotion play-off final last Sunday in Letterkenny, the absence of Kane Barrett’s name from Milford’s panel meant the floating voters edged their bets towards MacCumhaill’s, for whom Barrett’s father Shaun Paul was a selector. Barrett was a county minor as far back as 2015, when Donegal lost out to a Conor Glass-inspired Derry in the Ulster MFC semi-final. His return to action will be vital for Pauric Curley’s Milford in the Donegal SFC with a daunting trip to Kilcar to open before welcoming St Michael’s to Moyle View.
