Gaelscoil Adhamhnáin undertook their first community fundraisers in two years in Letterkenny on Wednesday.

The Glencar-based school are undertaking the drive to finance the instillation of an astroturf football pitch and attracted an entry in the region of 500 for their 5k/3k run/walk.
The 5k race was won by JP Williamson from City of Derry in a time of 15:05, with Martin Cox in second with 16:31 and Milford AC's Joe Gibbons in third some 15 seconds afterwards.

Treasa Doherty from Finn Valley AC was the first female home in 17:16, ahead of Helen McCready, Rosses AC, in 17:39 and then Natasha Kelly, also Finn Valley, who clocked 17:58.
In the 3k event, John Fealty, in the Men's over-60 category, was fastest in 11:47, ahead of Colm Breathnach, Boys U-14, with Cara McGonagle, Girls U-14, the first female home.

"It was great to see such a good entry, with the last two years being difficult for community-based fundraisers," said Paddy McTeague on behalf of the school's parents' committee. "There was great work put in by the committee members, parents, staff and students, as well as principal Colm Breathnach."
