A spokesperson for the school said: “Nuala first joined the staff of Killaghtee National School in September 1990 and later became Principal in 1999.
“During that time, Nuala oversaw the extension of the school, planned for and adopted two new curricula, embraced new technology and brought the school through the Covid pandemic among many other achievements.”

Nuala’s hard work, professionalism and positive attitude was celebrated at the gathering on Thursday, October 24.
Pupils, parents, staff, Board of Management members, and indeed, the wider community paid tribute to Nuala.
“For years Nuala championed for her pupils’ education and well-being, advocated for their needs and empowered each and everyone of them to be their best selves every day,” said the spokesperson.
“We hope that retirement is as kind to Nuala as she was to all of us.”
We wish her all the happiness and fulfilment that this new chapter brings.
