The children had been practising for many weeks under the musical direction of Mrs Siobhán Lee and Ms Róisin Kilcoyne.
A medley of Christmas carols and poems was rehearsed and perfected. The children were so excited to visit the residents in both places.

It was a really magical and humbling experience watching the children sing their hearts out and the residents enjoying the performances. They sang along with the children to some of the old traditional favourites. They were made so welcome in both places and were treated to hot chocolate and lots of treats.

It was truly wonderful to watch the children interact with the residents. Both young and old benefited from this experience. It was livestreamed and enjoyed by those who couldn’t attend in person.

Mrs Lee who is 94 years young recited a beautiful poem called An Old Woman of the Roads by Padraic Colum. All the children sat in awe listening to this wonderful lady. She received a huge round of applause. One child could be heard saying: "That lady is 84 years older than me!". The children are already planning their next visit. This is the true meaning of Christmas.
