The ceremony took place at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel in Buncrana last Friday. The Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Awards commemorate the legacy of the former Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Tip O’Neill, whose grandparents hailed from Donegal.
The Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Award was first initiated in 2012. Tip’s son Tommy O’Neill, alongside his wife Shelly O’Neill, returns home to Donegal each year for the awards ceremony.
The event continues to serve as a bridge between Ireland and its global community, reinforcing the bonds of kinship, culture, and shared values.
