In Pictures: Oíche na hÓige welcomes family and friends to The Deck in Donegal Town

The event was part of a national programme of activities shining a light on young people and those who work with them

The Deck UBU Foróige group in Donegal Town was among youth clubs and community groups across the country to take part on Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night 2025. Click on the arrows to see Michael McMullin's gallery of photos from the evening:

This event which took place on November 21 November took place with the aim of celebrating the energy, creativity and achievements of young people as well as the vital work of youth workers and volunteers.

The Donegal Town event invited parents, guardian, grandparents, siblings, Foróige members past and present, and members of the wider community to come along. Those who attended had the opportunity to learn about the group’s many activities, and to meet the team and the young people who are making a positive impact on their community through Foróige.

It was very well attended, with guests and members treated to delicious refreshments

Minister for Education and Youth Helen McEntee TD said: “Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night is about shining a light on the amazing contribution young people make to their communities - and the adults who support them every day.

“I hope that through Oíche na hÓige / Youth Night, thousands of young people will get to experience youth services in their area.”

The Deck UBU offers a range of activities for young people, helping them to develop new skills and providing a safe space for them to come together to enjoy shared interests such as music, chess, gaming and more.

Members are also engaged in programmes by which they make a meaningful contribution to their community, such as raising funds and buying equipment and care packages for Donegal Community Hospital.
