Myriad of Lakes
Donegal is home to many beautiful lakes and an astonishing 130 of them are situated in the Rosses! Better still, the lakes are situated nearby within a five-mile radius outside Dungloe.
The lakes include Loughanure Lake, which is the largest; Dungloe Lake; Lough Meela; Craghy Lake; and Owenamarve Lake just to mention a few.
In these lakes, salmon, sea trout and brown trout can be found. It is largely beneficial to have so many lakes in the Rosses, as it has long been associated with fishing.
The Rosses fishery is controlled by the Rosses Anglers Association in conjunction with the Donegal Game Angling Federation which safeguards the fishing stocks, ensuring a healthy environment and sustainable future.
