Mary From Dungloe Festival
Saturday, July 25 to Monday, August 3, various venues and street entertainment, Dungloe
One of Donegal’s best known events, the Mary From Dungloe Festival has been running since the 1960s when it was held to provide entertainment for locals returning home for a few days from the Scottish farms for the traditional break. The festival celebrates Donegal people from all over the world, centring around the famous pageant, where a young woman is crowned with the Mary From Dungloe title after being selected not alone for her beauty, but for her personality and cultural and social awareness. Throughout the festival, Dungloe is a hive of activity and entertainment with live music, dance, family fun, concerts, the festival parade, gala ball, and more.
