Heavy rain causes significant rise in Crolly river

VIDEO: River rises due to overnight rainfall

Overnight rainfall has caused the water in Crolly river to rise.

The river spilled into nearby fields and the water level has raised higher than it has been in quite some time.

A status yellow weather warning which was in place overnight has been lifted.

However, many areas in west Donegal have seen flooding and destruction including Ardra, Glenties, Gaoth Dobhair, Castlefin, Stranorlar, and Bunbeg.

Many roads have been reopened since this morning and a clean-up has got underway in many areas.
