'Two number elevens and one number twelve' helped elect McBride on 14th count

Cllr Michael McBride thanked everyone who voted for him, whether first preferences or not

Councillor Michael McBride has revealed ballots with eleventh and twelfth preferences helped ensure his re-election. 

Speaking to Donegal Live reporter, Mary McFadden, after he was elected on the 14th count, he said, "There were a few ballot papers there tonight, one number ten, two number elevens and one number twelve ended up coming back to me as number ones.

"So no matter what vote you gave me along the way, I want to thank you for it, and I look forward to working for every one of yous on the new council."
