WATCH: Blizzards hit Donegal as council battles to keep main roads clear

After heavy overnight snow across much of Donegal there were blizzards in many places this morning for commuters.

Donegal Co Council had crews out to keep the main routes clear of snow, but motorists were being advised to drive with caution.

Further rain, sleet and snow is expected during the day.

More than 55,000 homes and businesses were without power around the country this morning as Storm Eunice tracked across the country.

The worst hit areas were the south west, where gusts of more than 130km/h were reported.

According to ESB Networks say the power outages are mainly in Cork, Kerry and Clare, and crews are working to restore supply in the affected areas.

Power outages have also been reported in Donegal, Waterford, Offaly, Wexford, Mayo, Galway and Roscommon.
