Watch: A walk around the buzz in Glenties on Traditional Fair Day

There is a full day display of street traders, traditional crafts and exhibitions, sheep marts and shearing displays, auctions, live street music and entertainment

The Glenties Traditional Fair Day brings a good buzz to the main street.

There is a full day display of street traders, traditional crafts and exhibitions, sheep marts and shearing displays, auctions, live street music and entertainment. Later on, Roddy’s Bar will host For Folk Sake, Darren ‘Boot’ will play in Leo’s and The Thatch will host a Scottish act, Keeper Lit.

The Glenties Harvest Fair Festival, which is one of Donegal’s most cherished and historic community celebrations, will run until Sunday. Tomorrow, the town stays buzzing with the Patsy Furey U13 Football Tournament, a Pool Competition in Leo’s Bar, and a Kids Fun Day at Dr. McCloskey Crescent. That evening, the marquee comes alive with Björn Identity, Ireland’s top ABBA tribute band, supported by Shania Twain Tribute. Later, the Queen Harvest Fair Dance will round off the night with music from Red Alert and DJ Dave Duke.

The festival concludes with a lively family-friendly day sponsored by Donegal Waste & Recycling. Events include live street music, a colourful Float Parade, a competitive Tug of War, and an evening performance from Jimmy Buckley, one of Ireland’s best-loved country stars.
