A Status Yellow Rain Warning has been issued for Donegal
Widespread heavy showers and longer spells of rain are expected this afternoon and evening
A Status Yellow Rain Warning has been issued for Donegal and the rest of Ireland, with widespread heavy showers and longer spells of rain expected this afternoon and evening.
Met Éireann is warning that thunderstorms could bring lightning and hail, with the alert coming into effect at midday today, Sunday, August 30, and remaining in place until 9pm.
Donegal is among the areas affected by the national warning, with localised flooding possible as heavy rain moves across the county. The conditions could also lead to difficult travelling, poor visibility and disruption to outdoor events. Met Éireann has also warned of the potential for lightning damage during thunderstorms.
People travelling this afternoon and evening are being advised to take extra care, particularly in areas experiencing intense downpours, while motorists should be prepared for sudden reductions in visibility and surface water on roads.
