Donegal musician Eoghan Holland is returning to live performance this month for the first time in seven years with a brief tour.

The Ballybofey guitarist, songwriter and singer - who is based in Galway - has been making folk, experimental and electronic music since the mid 2000s through what he calls “an entirely DIY mindset”.

He is returning to live performance this week for the first time since 2019 with Derry-based musicians Rohan Armstrong (double bass) and Neil Burns (electric piano) as the Space Folk Ensemble.

The group  will be exploring the material from Yellowback, produced in 2007, along with songs from across their years of collaboration.

Balancing Irish Folk, Japanese scale structures, jazz-influenced time signatures with delicate and intricate performance along with Eoghan’s deep baritone and poetic lyrics, Burns and Armstrong widen the arrangements with a mix of care and exploration.

The Space Folk Ensemble is playing live across a three-date tour in April in intimate venues across the north and north-west, opening by supporting Donegal's Without Willow at The Cottage, Letterkenny on April 15, the Sunflower Folk Club, Belfast on April 16 and Yeats Society, Sligo on April 17.

Following the tour, Holland will be appearing solo at a curated Irish artists feature night in Amsterdam on May 30.
