Caitriona Jennings and Conor Kelly were among the award winners at the 123.ie National Athletics Awards.
Letterkenny AC’s Jennings was named as the ultra runner of the year and Kelly, who represents Finn Valley AC, was selected as the U20 athlete of the year.
The awards were presented at a function in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Dublin.
Jennings recently broke the world record for 100 miles. Jennings ran 12 hours, 37 minutes and four seconds in completing the Tunnel Hill 100 Mile, held in Illinois.
The race was Jennings’s debut in a 100-mile race and she obliterated the 12:42:40 world record off Camille Herron, set in 2017 at the Tunnel Hill 100 Mill.
Earlier in 2025, Jennings broke the Irish 50k record at the Donadea 50km National Championships when going 3:16:33, and she also holds the Irish 100km record, the 7:43:01 she set in 2021.

Kelly stormed to gold in the 400m at the European U20 Championships in Finland in August, clocking a new national U20 record of 45.83 seconds.
Kelly has recently begun an athletics scholarship at the University of Texas at Austin and healso competed in the mixed 4x400 relay at both the World Athletics Championships and the World Relays.
