Danny Duffy and Cathal McLaughlin both recorded the second wins of their professional careers on Saturday night in Belfast.

Duffy overcame Steven Maguire in a super-bantamweight bout with McLaughlin out-pointing George Rogers in a middleweight contest.

The Raphoe Boxing Club graduates are managed by former world middleweight title challenger Jason Quigley.

Still operating out of Raphoe BC, club coaches Gary McCullagh and Gerard Keaveney were in the corner for the pair on a show at the Devenish Complex promoted by JB Promotions and Jamie Conlan.

Duffy earned a 40-36 points win over Lancashire southpaw Maguire to move to 2-0 having made his debut in Waterford last December when beating Jake Pollard.

The 24-year-old was the Irish Elite bantamweight champion in 2023 when he beat Oisin Worsencroft in the final - a month after defeating the same opponent in an Irish senior final.

McLaughlin was also given a 40-36 points win on the referee’s scorecard.

McLaughlin, like Duffy, was a senior champ in 2023, defeating TJ King.

On Saturday night, McLaughlin was too slick for Rogers, a journeyman out of Leicestershire. It has been a somewhat frustrating start to life in the paid ranks for McLaughlin, who had to endure a couple of fight cancellations since recording a debut win over Martin Shaw last August at the SSE Arena in Belfast.

Meanwhile, another Quigley-managed pro, Tyler Jolly, became the Celtic welterweight champion on Friday night.

Quigley was in attendance in Glasgow as Jolly took a stoppage win over Jake Tinklin, extending his unbeaten record to 6-0.

An eye injury prevented Tinklin, the Welsh champion, from getting off his stool for the 10th round at the Caledonia Gladiators Arena.
