Caoimhin Connolly after winning at the National Stadium
Donegal boxers Caomhin Connolly and David Tennyson moved into the semi-finals of the National U19 Championships.
Twin Towns Boxing Club’s Connolly booked his spot in the last four of the 50kgs division with Tennyson, boxing out of Derryveagh Boxing Club, advancing to the 65kgs semis.
On Friday night at the National Stadium, Connolly stopped Ben Millar from the Erne BC in Fermanagh. Connolly was firmly on top when the halt was called in the second round.
Connolly, won the national youth 48kgs title in January when beating Kurt Kinsella at the National Stadium, followed up with an impressive quarter-final win on Saturday.
Connolly was given a unanimous decision in his bout with Anthony Cash from Kildare.
Tennyson also recorded a stoppage win on Friday night as he proved too hot to handle for Sacred Heart’s James Keating, the bout stopped in round two.
On Saturday, Tennyson claimed a unanimous decision against Yegor Anisimov from the St Mary’s club in Dublin.

There was no joy, though, for Raphoe Boxing Club’s Gary McNamara, who fell to a unanimous decision defeat against Calvin Doyle in a 60kgs quarter-final.
Also in semi-final action next weekend will be Convoy’s Kerry Brown, at 60kgs, and St John Bosco BC’s Nadine Pearson, in the 54kgs category.
