Mullaghduff boxing trainer Ciaran Duffy has had a big month in September with two fighters under his watch scoring notable wins.

Last weekend, Aness Taj won the WBC Middle Eastern cruiserweight title in Dubai.

Taj beat Egyptian boxer Wagdy Attai in the main event. Attia came into the ring with an impressive 12-2 (11KOs) record and it was a career best win for Aness, who scored his first knockdown in the first round and another heavier knockdown in the fourth.

Attia opponent retired in the corner at the end of the round and Taj improved his record to 11-5 (6KOs) with the victory.

That came a week after Duffy cornered Freddy Kiwitt for a victory in Kolding, Denmark.

Kiwitt defeated durable Venezuelan Ifrain Alcantara with a sixth round stoppage.

Now, Kiwitt will face Suleiman Jafaru at the GP Joule Arena in Flensburg, Germany on November 22 for the WBO Global super-welterweight title. Kiwitt will also put his WBF World super-welterweight title - won against Evander Castillo in March - on the line.

Victory there would put Kiwitt, who is 28-3 (18KOs), inside the top 10 of the world rankings and Taj will also box on the same card.

Duffy boxed as a pro himself and banked a 10-2-1 record between 2001 and 2010. In 2023, he was in the corner when Daniel Dubois stopped Jarrell Miller in Saudi Arabia.

He operates the Duffy Boxing Elite Training Centre at Olympic Park in Hackney Wick, London.
