Donegal delight for boxers at Ulster 9 County Championships

There was some Donegal delight at the Ulster 9 County 4-7 Championships at the weekend.

At the Oakleaf Boxing Club in Derry, Ellis O’Donnell won the Girl 4 55kgs title. The Dungloe BC boxer overcame Loup’s Clare McStocker on a split decision. 

O’Donnell’s club-mate Oleski Kravets took a unanimous verdict to defeat Ledley Hall BC’s Adrian Stan in the Boy 6 80+kgs final.

Cadan Keenan of Twin Towns recorded a UD win over Mitch Mezhnov of Kilkeel to land the Boy 4 60kgs crown.

In finals yet to be boxed, Colm Callaghan from Carndonagh is slated to face Dunfanaghy’s Eddie McBride in a Boy 4 63kgs final; David Tennyson (Derryveagh) will clash with St Bronagh’s puncher Josh Doran in the Boy 6 63kgs final; and Gary McNamara (Raphoe) is down to meet Sean Gray (Clonard) in the Boy 7 65kgs final.

Several Donegal boxers won titles via walkover:Andrii Derkach (Letterkenny, Boy 100+kgs); Isla Larkin (Letterkenny, Girl 4, 53kgs); Danilo Krytski (Illies, Boy 5 80+kgs); Carys McFadden (Dunfanaghy, Girl 5 48kgs); Alesha Mullis Boyle (Dungloe, Girl 5 66kgs); Colleen McGlynn (St John Bosco, Girl 5 50kgs); Caoimhin Connolly (Twin Towns, Boy 6 50kgs); Ryan Patton (Raphoe, Boy 7 50kgs).

Cormac Callaghan from Illies GG lost out to Jack Kelly of Clonard in the Boy 4 46kgs final.

Mark Duffy of St John Bosco was beaten by Harvey Cochrane (Castle) in the Boy 6 57kgs final and Noah Gallagher, also of St John Bosco,  lost to Liam Weatherall (St Joe’s) in the Boy 4 39kgs.
